Short-Term Care Insurance
GTL’s Recover Cash® Short-Term Care insurance covers confinement in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or at home, while providing financial support during recovery and offering assistance to family caregivers.
What is Short-Term Care Insurance?
Short-Term Care Insurance provides coverage for a range of care options, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in your home. With Medicare* coverage limits and specific requirements, GTL’s Recover Cash® fills in those gaps, covering out-of-pocket expenses.
How does GTL’s Short-Term Care Insurance work?
Short-term care insurance, like Recover Cash®, provides direct benefits to policyholders, covering stays in assisted living or nursing homes, adult day care, hospice care, and even home care expenses. As an added benefit of the Home Health Care Rider, policyholders will have access to TCARE’s Family Caregiver Concierge Services designed to help support your loved ones and prevent caregiver burnout.
Why do I need Short-Term Care Insurance from GTL?
Short Term Care insurance, like GTL’s Recover Cash®, addresses the rising need for affordable and accessible care coverage, especially when long-term care policies may be challenging to qualify for or afford. Designed to cover your out-of-pocket expenses that you may incur during recovery, Recover Cash® provides essential protection for nursing home and home care.
When faced with a prolonged illness or disability, many people require additional support from family members while receiving professional care at home. This additional mental, emotional and physical strain is often overlooked and can be detrimental to both the caregiver and the patient. GTL’s Recover Cash® Short-Term Care policy was uniquely designed to combine cash benefits to help you recover while offering support to your loved ones when you both need it most.

How can GTL’s Recover Cash® Short-Term Care Insurance Help Me and My Family?
Below is an example of how GTL’s Recover Cash helped Phil, a 62-year-old who had purchased a policy with a $100 per day Nursing Home Benefit and a $500 per week Home Health Care rider for $23.23* per month.
*30 day base benefit period with 20 day elimination & 26 week Home Health Care benefit period with 20 day elimination.
Meet Phil
(A hypothetical example)

When Phil turned 68, he suffered a stroke which made it difficult for him to do normal tasks. He knew he needed additional help but still wanted to recover at home.
Phil’s healthcare provider certified that he needed a Licensed Home Health Care Practitioner to help with 2 activities of daily living (ADLs). His only daughter Lisa also started to help care for him until he was able to take care of himself.
Phil used the $500 per week from GTL to help pay for his care.
After Phil’s Home Health Care claim was approved by GTL, Lisa registered and went through TCARE’s family caregiver assessment tool to help prevent burnout and identify resources in her community to help care for her father.
GTL then paid Phil $3,500 which he gave to Lisa to pay for her gas and her car repairs due to traveling to and from her dad’s house every day.
Lisa took advantage of TCARE’s tools and received the support she needed during this physically and emotionally difficult time for her. With the help of TCARE’s certified caregiver navigators, Lisa was able to take care of herself while taking care of her dad.
Great News!
Instead of worrying about his finances or his daughter’s well-being due to his stroke, Phil was able to receive the financial support he needed from GTL and the family caregiver support Lisa needed from TCARE to help them on their journey.

What happens if I don't use my entire benefit period?
If you do not utilize the entire benefit period, rest assured. For instance, with a 360-day benefit period, if you use only 200 days, the remaining 160 days can still be accessed if you need to return for the same condition before restoration.
Do I have to change my policy if I move to a different state?
No, you may use this coverage in any of the 50 states.
